HOW TO CUT GLASS

Breaking off thin pieces, straight score
Sometimes the pieces that need to be broken away are too small to be broken by hand. An essential tool to accomplish this type of cut is a trusty pair of glass breaking pliers.

STEP 1:
Score the glass where you want the break to occur.

STEP 2:
Place the glass so that the score follows the edge of the table, with the largest piece to be broken off on the table, and the smallest piece off the table. Hold down the largest piece with your left hand if you are a "rightie."

Position the glass breaking pliers in the center of the score line, the tip of the pliers running parallel to the score line, and just in front of it. The flat jaw of the glass pliers are on top, and the curved jaws at the bottom of the glass.

STEP 3:
With the pliers, push down the smallest piece, producing a downward folding motion along the score line.
